This is a sponsored review from BlogHer and Stouffer's.
If you follow my blog, you might know that my husband (Noah) and I work full time jobs. Working girls (and guys!), you can relate...sometimes, after a long day, you want some time with just you and your significant other, but you're so tired that you can't move, much less go to a restaurant for a special night!
That's why I was super pumped about this review. A couple of weeks ago, I got two of Stouffer's new Sautes for Two to try! These are a little different than your traditional prepared meal. Noah and I both like flavors that are a little out of the box, and these definitely fit that bill. We got the Steak Gorgonzola and the Grilled Chicken & Asiago Tortellini to try (yum!), but they also have flavors like Braised Beef & Portabello Tortellini, Cajun-Style Shrimp Alfredo, and Ginger Soy Shrimp. Don't those sound like special occasion meals?
It worked out that we didn't have our normal weekend date night last weekend, so we decided this was the perfect time to have a night for just us. We both chose the Steak Gorgonzola to try first. You guys, it didn't disappoint.
The prep was actually fairly easy. We tried cooking it in a skillet the first night. It was probably ready within 10 minutes, and you'd never know it had been frozen!
We paired it a little bit of garlic bread, and...
...voila! This meal was our favorite...it really did taste like a date-night kind of meal...just without the price!
We decided to try the second one the next night (yes, they were that good!). This was the Grilled Chicken and Asiago Tortellini. This night just happened to be after a 10 hour work day...you've all been there. The last thing on your mind is having a romantic night. You're just worn out, there's nothing for dinner, and all you want to do is eat and sleep.
So this night, we tried the microwave way of making this. I honestly couldn't tell a difference between the two ways of cooking...they were both delicious!
Please note the two forks in the dish...we might or might not have eaten it straight out of the serving dish. Because I don't know about you, when I'm with my guy, I don't need the flowers, candles, or fancy table. An incredible meal on the couch with a serving dish and two forks can be a special night too!

ReplyDeleteTo make ordinary nights special with my boyfriend, we plan a themed dinner. For example, we recently did an Italian night. We put on classic Italian music, talked in our best Italian accents all night, and enjoyed a delicious traditional Italian meal that we cooked together. We have a lot of fun with it!

ReplyDeleteWell, we have a three month old... so special nights usually involve sleep! Any night we don't have to cook is great, so something like this would be greatly appreciated... just throw it in the pan! hubby and I, have weekly at home date nights once the kids go to bed. Each week we take turns deciding what we're going to do.
ReplyDeleteBoth of us are a bit of heath freaks, especially when it comes to food, so we spend quality time by cooking together. Our work hours are often long and unpredictable, but we still make it a point to cook together, especially on weekends, when we often prepare our meals for the week.
ReplyDeleteordinary nights become extraordinary when my husband and i cook together with some music playing in the background. Laughing is inevitable. wearing something lacy while we cook is always a good idea. :)

To make a regular night special, we will spontaneously decide to have dinner at a sit-down restaurant. It is special, and exciting.
ReplyDeleteThose tulips on your table are gorgeous! We make an extraordinary night by setting the mood with candles, flowers, and a glass of wine.

I love to turn an ordinary night in extraordinary by surprising my partner. I will bring home her favorite Indian Restaurant's food and maybe some flowers or a special dessert she likes. After that, the whole evening just glows!

Just having dinner alone without the kids in the house
ReplyDeleteA few quiet moments with a drink on the patio to unwind before dinner.

Every night at our house is special and extraordinary in some way - we just love being together and don't have to do anything extra to make it great.
